v2.c44.s6.27
The Indian contact with Tibet had begun several centuries earlier but this culminated with the migration of Dīpaṅkara or Atisa (AD 980-1053), the famous Buddhist monk of Udandapura and Vikramasila. These famous monasteries were destroyed by Muslim invaders in the twelfth century, and by that time many Buddhist and alchemical texts had been safely transported to Bhutan and Tibet.
