In Rasaprakāśaśudhakara, Yaśodhara described, probably for the first time in India, the preparation of karpūrarasa or calomel. To be made by heating mercury with common salt, alum and borax, calomel or mercuric chloride was recommended as an aphrodisiac and for leprosy.
