*Lohitaka* : of red colour, reddish. *Lohita* (red) plus affix *Kan* becomes *Lohitaka* in the sense it is *Maṇi* (gem). *Lohitaka* is ruby. (5.4.30) says “*lohitāt, maṇau kan*” *Lohitikā* means reddened with dye (*Lākṣā*).
