*Ayas* (*Āyas*) : probably metal and not merely iron. 5.4.94 states that *anas* (cart), *aśman* (rock), *ayas* (metal), *saras* (river) denote a genus or a name. Examples are *Kālāyasam*, *Lohitāyasam*. The former is *ajāti* or genus and the latter a *samjñā* or name.
