We find from the colophon that Mahīdhara completed his commentary on the *Kātyāyana Śulba* in the Saṁvat year 1646 (= 1589 A. D.), at Benares. It is also stated there that that commentary is based on the *Śulba-sūtra-vṛtti* of Rāma. Mahīdhara wrote as many as seventeen works on various subjects. His *Mantramahodadhi* was completed in 1589 A. D. and *Viṣṇubhakti-Kalpalatā-prakāśa* in 1597.
