The multiplicator was termed *guṇya* and the multiplier *guṇaka* or *guṇakāra*. The product was called *guṇana-phala* (result of multiplication) or *pratyutpanna* (lit. "reproduced," hence in arithmetic "reproduced by multiplication"). The above terms occur in all known Hindu works.
