² *Ā*, ii. 5. Translations of this rule have been given by Rodet, Kaye, Singh, Clark, Sengupta and others. Kaye’s translation is entirely inaccurate. Other translations, though free, give the correct result. Clark’s use of the words “the (preceding) *ghana*” is somewhat misleading. The portion at the end, within brackets, is common to this and the preceding rule for the extraction of the square-root.
