**Śrīdhara’s Rule.** Śrīdhara (*c.* 750) expressly indicates his method of solving the quadratic equation. His treatise on algebra is now lost. But the relevant portion of it is preserved in quotations by Bhāskara II¹ and others.² Śrīdhara’s method is :
