Tṛtá or Tritá is hence an intermediary like Thrita, a “third” person if one so wishes to call him between the gods and men, but whereas Thrita passes on to human beings the remedies of Ahura Mazda, Tritá communicates to them a morbific defilement of the gods. Hence between these two mythical personages, there is a similarity and a contrast at the same time but the contrast is less strong than the similarly, as Tritá is far from having, in the Veda, an entirely malefic rôle, as he has prepared the soma; a liquor like the amṛta.²
