Bhāskara at the end of his *Vīja gaṇita* refers to the treatises on algebra of Brahmagupta, Śrīdhara and Padmanābha as “too diffusive” and states that he has compressed the substance of them in “a well reasoned compendium, for the gratification of learners.”
