The Sulṭān’s taste for art, a glimpse of which we have obtained in the careful preservation of the Asoka pillars, manifested itself also in the manner in which he utilized the products that the applied science of those days could turn out. It is needless to point out that the use of these things by the Emperor served as a stimulus to the craftsmen concerned.
