Humāyūn’s literary turn of mind is further manifested by the use he made of the Shīr Manḍal. It was built by Shīr Shāh in the Purāna Qil’ah, and used as a house of pleasure. But when Humāyūn came to the throne of Delhi the second time, he transformed it into a library. It was here that he met with his death.
