Picturesque as the Madrasah looked with its ornamented mosque, it is an irony of fate that its name should ever afterwards be associated with an incident that marred its stainless beauty. In the eighth year of the reign of Akbar, an attempt was made on the life of the Emperor Akbar from the roof of the college, which the author of the *Ṭabaqāt-i-Akbarī*³ describes as follows:—
