6. Fruit:—The fruit is known as *phala*, *i.e.*, the result of a previous process. Green fruits are called *śalātu*, dry fruits are called *vāna*, and fleshy fruits, such as gourd and the like, are called *kṣāraka*, *jālaka*. A legume or pod is called *śamī*, *śimba*, and the seeds in it *śamī dhānya*.¹
