This hymn enumerates the animal enemies of corn and invokes the divine aid for their destruction. The locust, the rat, the devourers of corn, and the borers figuring in this hymn are precisely the animals that we meet to-day, After all, from verses like these it is clear that the agricultural condition of India, like other conditions, is not materially different from what existed in the days of old.
