v1.c11.40
During the fourth month the mass of the foetus increases, which makes the gravida feel heavy.100 The muscular tissue and blood develop in the fifth month in particular, which leads to leanness in the mother. The sixth month is characterized by the development of strength and complexion, which results in loss of strength and complexion in the mother. The foetus grows in every respect during the eighth month, which makes the expectant mother exhausted; this month is dangerous because ojas is exchanged between mother and child, leading to fluctuations of mood in both (4.19–24).101
