The majority of the citations referred to by these authors in order to substantiate their claims are of the nature of paribhāṣās; these technical rules belong to a special group of quotations which are probably from an Agniveśasaṃhitā, a work that impresses as entirely different from the Agniveśatantra and of a later date. Paribhāṣās do not form part of the Carakasaṃhitā and are usually found in the commentarial literature or specialized works like the Bheṣajakalpa, attributed to Bharadvāja.
