The presence of Agniveśa's name in a verse on this subject is striking, on account of the fact that fractures and dislocations are not discussed in the Carakasamhitā. The assumption that the verses referred to are from the old Agniveśatantra 246 would be tantamount to accepting that it essentially differed from the Carakasamhitā in also dealing with surgery.
