Indian scholars who suppose the Agniveśa of the Carakasaṃhitā to be identical with the Agniveśa or Agniveśya of Vedic literature, the Gaṇapāṭha, the Mahābhārata, etc., are inclined to place him in a period shortly preceding that of Pāṇini, in the age of the early Upaniṣads, or the period of the Śatapathabrāhmaṇa.
