Aruṇadatta says that Janaka was the author of a treatise (tantra) on diseases of the ears, eyes, nose and throat, the domain of a specialist in śālākya.400 A Janakatantra is quoted in the glosses accompanying a MS of the Aṣṭāṅgahṛdayasaṃhitā. 401
