This Vyāsa is identified with Vedavyāsa, the arranger of the Vedas, and the Vyāsa who wrote a commentary on the Yogasūtra. The Vedāntasūtra is ascribed to a Bādarāyaṇa. A Vyāsa, who is quoted in Aruṇadatta’s commentary on the Aṣṭāngahṛdayasaṃhitā (ad Sū.14.20) as a medical authority, is sometimes identified with Bādarāyaṇa. 109 Bādarāyaṇa was also an authority on jyotiṣa. 110
