The quotations from (Bhadra)śaunaka prove that he was the author of a medical tantra in verse. ¹⁵⁴ Although it is often said that this Śaunakatantra was a specialized treatise on śālākya, ¹⁵⁵ there is only one indication in support of this view, ¹⁵⁶ whereas, on the other hand, several quotations point to a more comprehensive medical work. ¹⁵⁷
