v1.c21.63

Many Bhārgava’s, i.e., descendants of Bhṛgu, are known,229 for example Cyavana, Jamadagni and Vṛddhajīvaka. The Kāśyapasaṃhitā, in the form of a dialogue between Kaśyapa and Vṛddhajīvaka, is therefore also called Bhārgavīyasaṃhitā. The Carakasaṃhitā once refers to Cyavana by calling him Bhārgava.230 The Kāśyapasaṃhitā relates that another Bhārgava, called Pramati, held the view that all diseases, being afflictive, are one (Sū.27.3).231 The Kalyāṇakāraka mentions Bhārgava among the authorities who were opposed to a non-vegetarian diet.
