v1.c22.3

AMITAPRABHA⁴ wrote a commentary, called Carakanyāsa,⁵ on the Carakasaṃhitā. Niścalakara quotes in his Ratnaprabhā on the Cakradatta from Amitaprabha’s Carakanyāsa, which, as appears from one of the quoted passages,⁶ covered the whole of the Carakasaṃhitā as redacted by Dṛḍhabala. Amitaprabha refers to predecessors (pūrvācāryāḥ) and to particular schools of interpretation of the Carakasaṃhitā, such as the Dākṣiṇātyas (the Southerners), Maitreyas, Paitāmahas, Udīcyas (the Northerners), Vaiṣṇavas, and the followers of Vīravarman.⁷
