HARICANDRA or HARÍSCANDRA, also called Bhaṭṭāra(ka)hari(ś)candra, 227 and sometimes indicated merely by his title of distinction, Bhaṭṭāra(ka), 228 was a very early, probably even the earliest, commentator on the Carakasamhitā. 229 this has been preserved. 230 Its mangala is addressed to Sūrya. 231 The extant part shows that Haricandra was well acquainted with the tantrayuktis. 232
