Īsvarasena was the son of Siddheśvarasena. 337 His chronological position depends on the issue whether or not Cakrapānidatta and Niścalakara mention a series of authors and commentators in chronological order. Both lists give the impression that this is the case,³³⁸ which is in favour of the conclusion that Īśvarasena has to be placed in the period between Jejjata on the one hand, and Gadādhara on the other.³³⁹
