K.R. Srikanta Murthy 157 employs some of the same arguments as P.V. Sharma. He regards a physician Nāgārjuna, who belongs to the fourth or fifth century, as the most probable candidate and credits him with a series of medical treatises. This Nāgārjuna was in his opinion a Buddhist scholar who had many followers known as the Nāgārjunīyas.
