v1.c26.s17.1

The fame of Vāgbhaṭa spread over a large area of Indian culture. The Aṣṭāṅgahṛdayasaṃhitā became the object of intensive study, as shown by the very large number of its commentaries. Several later works were inspired by it. The Hṛdaya was translated into Tibetan, together with Candranandana’s commentary,¹¹⁸⁶ and reached the Islamic world.
