v1.c26.s2.27

This ekavaidya of the Saṃgraha is without any doubt the same as the apūrvavaidya (unprecedented physician) of the corresponding, but differently worded, opening verse of the Hṛdaya. The salutation at the beginning of both works is remarkable by being addressed to a deity of a vague appellation, open to disagreeing interpretations. 151 Whether or not this is intentional cannot be decided. The subsequent history of Hṛdaya and Saṃgraha shows that the ambiguity of their maṅgalas has furthered their acceptance in both Buddhist and Hindu circles.
