v1.c26.s2.66
The statement (A.s.Śā.1.38) that the things heard (śruti) by a pregnant woman (antarvatnī) influence the character type (sattva) of her child is regarded as Buddhist in character by some. 218 There is, however, no ground for such a conclusion; the Suśrutasamhitā (Śā.10.3) clearly describes the bad effects of disagreeable sounds, etc., heard by a pregnant woman, on the child in her womb.
