v1.c8.122

The four doṣic varieties of the disorders called mada (intoxication)454 and mūrcchāya (fainting)455 are discussed. These disorders arise when the channels (srotas) transporting blood, rasa and conscious perception (saṃjñā) are obstructed by the doṣas. Mada is of three types: caused by alcoholic drinks, poisons and blood. Both mada and mūrcchāya subside spontaneously, without treatment (24.25–42).456
