456 This was the opinion of Rāmāvatāraśarman, the editor of the Kalpadrumakośa (see Vṛddhatrayī 57). C. Vogel (IL 329–330) regards Maheśvara as the grandson of Keśava, alias Kṛṣṇa, who served as a physician to the royal household at Gādhipura.
