v2.c33.182

300 A term employed is pākhaṇḍa (v.l. pāṣaṇḍa). Cakra interprets it as a member of an unorthodox (vedabāhya) community, for example, a Buddhist (saugata). Daḷhaṇa says that a Kāpālika patient should be treated by a physician of the same persuasion, etc. Compare on pākhaṇḍa/pāṣaṇḍa: Ca.Ci.23.160; A.h.Śā.6.1; A.s.Śā.12.3. See on groups called thus: K.K. Gopal (1984); W.D. O’Flaherty (1971), (1983).
