The Kāśyapasaṃhitā is the only medical treatise that presents Kaśyapa as a specialist in kaumārabhṛtya, whereas many medical authors and works quote from or refer to a specialist in this branch of āyurveda who was called Kāśyapa.³¹³ As we have seen, the Strīcikitsāsūtra conforms to this tradition. An authority on kaumārabhṛtya called Vṛddhakāśyapa is also known from quotations.³¹⁴
