The Mahāmāyūrī is mentioned in Vāgbhaṭa's Aṣṭāṅgasaṃgraha⁹⁸ and Soḍhala's Gadanigraha.⁹⁹ It is also referred to in Bāṇa's Harṣacarita, where the author says that it was recited when Prabhākaravardhana, Harṣa's father, was dying.¹⁰⁰
