v3.c42.s2.7

Part II, which opens with a salutation addressed to the Tathāgatas, contains, as stated by the author, the Nāvanītaka,²⁵ a standard manual (siddhasamkarṣa), containing the foremost formulae of the great sages, made up by them of old (1–2). It was originally divided into sixteen chapters (adhyāya), the headings of which are enumerated in the introductory verses (4–9). The introduction ends with the recommendation not to transmit the Nāvanītaka to anyone without a son, a brother or a disciple.
