The Siddhisthāna is differently arranged, when compared with the corresponding section of the Carakasaṃhitā. The first chapter is concerned with emetic and purgative treatments. Chapter two deals with drugs administered by way of the nostrils (nasya); four varieties are distinguished: avapīḍa, anuvāsa, dhūma, and pradhamana (Si.2.1).
