Date Since it is an established fact that Vandyaghaṭīya Sarvānanda quotes from the work, the Ratnamālā was composed before A.D. 1159/60. If it could be proved that Yādavaprakāśa used it in composing his Vaijayantī, it would be earlier than the eleventh century. Internal evidence, consisting of the absence of ahiphena and bhaṅgā, together with their synonyms, points to a period preceding the eleventh century.
