Nala is quoted by Cakrapāṇidatta,³⁰ Daḷhaṇa,³¹ Meghadeva in his commentary on the Mādhavadravyaguṇa, Niścalakara,³² Śīlaṅka,³³ Śivadāsasena,³⁴ Toḍara,³⁵ Trimalla,³⁶ and Vopadeva.³⁷ Nala is referred to in the Kāśyapīyakṛṣisūkti,³⁸ Kṣemaśarman’s Kṣematūhala,³⁹ and the anonymous Pākaśāstra. Nala was one of the sources of Basava’s Śivatattvaratnākara.
