The Rasakāmadhenu consists of four sections: upakaraṇapāda (seven chapters), dhātusamgrahapāda (five chapters), sūtakriyāpāda (nine chapters), and cikitsāpāda (fifty-nine chapters). Sections one to three comprise 5,566 verses, interspersed with comments in prose. The verses are borrowed from a large number of sources, mostly mentioned by name; the prose is added by the author.
