1563 L. Sternbach (1978: 268–269) silently accepted this identity. See L. Sternbach (1974: 16) on Śrīdharadāsa's work. N.N. Dasgupta (1936/37: 159) remained unsure whether Vaṅgasena's father should be identified with the commentator on the Suśrutasaṃhitā or with the poet quoted by Śrīdharadāsa. D.Ch. Bhattacharyya (1947b: 140) rejected the identity with the Vaidyaprasāraka.
