No. 1.—It bears the inscription: *Dighatapasi sise anusāsati*, "the ascetic of long penance instructs his pupils." Cunningham takes some of these pupils to be female Ṛishis. The position of the pupils' fingers shows counting called for in *Sāma-Veda* chanting.
