It will, therefore, be observed that the Sāṁkhya educes the course of phenomenal consciousness from the basic reality of Pure Consciousness (*Purusha*) and of the Principle of Objectivity (*Prakṛiti*). As has been already explained, the course of this consciousness leads from the subtle to the grosser forms of experience by an order of *descent*.
