Bhagiratha in Meditation [Pallava relief of 7th-8th century A.D.]. The Yogi (who was a King) appears petrified by his prolonged penance and has become a part of the rocks round him. His penance moves Goddess Gangā who melts and descends from Heaven to Earth, pouring out Her bounty in streams of plenty [See Plate 61 of Coomāraswamy's *Viśvakarma*].
