At the time of his departure for Tibet, Atiśa made over charge of the various offices he had held to the monastic authorities. His guide, Nag-tsho, packed the travelling appurtenances of the party in sixty loads which were carried by thirty bullocks. Atīśa on the way visited some holy places like Vajrāsana and Mitra Vihāra. He had Gya-tson, who was then laid up with fever at Śrī Nālandā, carried in a *dooly* to Vikramaśīlā before leaving the place.
