Two Indian scholars visited China in A.D. 980. Their Chinese names are (1) *Tien-si-tsai* and (2) *Che-hou* (= Dānapāla?). The former is stated to have been a Kashmiri or a native of Jalandharā (*Jo-lan-to-lo*). In twenty years, he translated eighteen works, such as *Dharmapada* or *Daśanāma-sūtra*. He served with Dānapāla on the Board of Translators. Dānapāla hailed from Udyāna and is said to have translated as many as 111 works, mostly on *Dhāraṇīs*.
