"Verily, the goddess of Learning (*Vidyā*) approached Brāhmaṇa, saying: 'Protect me: I am thy treasure. Do not expound Me to the following unworthy persons,—him who is jealous (*asūyaka*), who is wanting in simplicity and straightforwardness (*anriju*), or who is devoid of self-control (*ayata*). Then alone shall I be potent.'
