c4.s3.6

An abbreviated *karaṇa*, dealing almost exclusively with calendaric matters, spherical trigonometry, and the computation of the positions of the planets, is the Dhyānagrahopādhyāya, preserved in some manuscripts of Brahmagupta's BSS as its last chapter (BSS 25). Its epoch is 21 March 628. Like the BSS itself it follows the Brāhmapakṣa, though a new method of approximating all linear and sine-wave functions by multiplying one of each by various simple coefficients is introduced. This and other approximative devices alter the parameters somewhat from those standard to the pakṣa.
