Eastern India, the provinces of Bihar and Bengal, became the home of the Radha-Krishna cult in the 15th century. Vidyapati (fl. A.D. 1400-1470), the poet of Bihar, wrote in the Maithili dialect on the Radha and Krishna theme. He was the most famous of the Vaishnava poets of Eastern India.
