works, e. g. Rasárnava; but it is described there as the white "ash" of mercury (sveta-bhasma). The recipé for calomel as given in the Calcutta edition, however, is quite different from that in the Benares and Kásmír MSS. and it is altogether wanting in one of the MSS. in the Calcutta Sanskrit College Library. We are therefore not without suspicion that it has been foisted into the original composition. The author refers to Rasárnava, Nágárjuna, Govinda, Nityanátha, Siddha Lakshmísvara, Trivikramabhatta and Chakrapáni. There is a lengthy colophon but no direct information can be derived from it as to the age of the author.
